Mercenaries 2 Petrol Stunt Causes Chaos
05 Sep 2008 by Paul YoungerToday EA took over a petrol station in Finsbury Park in London offering motorists £20,000 GBP worth of free petrol to promote Mercenaries 2.
Traffic chaos ensued this mornig as EA kicked off their £20,000 GBP free petrol giveaway in London at 6:30 AM this morning. Taking over the Last Stop station near Finsbury Park, North London, EA decked the station out with jeeps, oil barrels, sandbag walls, and fully costumed actors to entice motorists.
Local residents were not impressed when queues started to appear along the road leading into the station, some calling the stunt irresponsible amnd dangerous. The Police have been monitoring the situation closely.
Motorists who managed to fill their tanks with £40 worth of free petrol were very impressed. Whether they buy the game or not is another question. It appears the stunt has worked out nicely for EA who have gained mainstream press coverage and also won a few hearts of motorists being struck by the fuel price increases of recent months here in the UK.
